My husband Allan and I have both enjoyed visiting Lake Kariba for as long as we can remember, having spent many holidays there since we were young children. Kariba brings back memories for both of us, so much so that our yacht in Mauritius is named after the Ume River located in the Eastern basin of this vast man made lake. Allan’s passions are sailing and walking in the African bush, whilst mine are bird watching and photography, hence Kariba is the perfect destination for both of us.
Birdlife around Changa is just incredible, I love cruising around the bays taking in this amazing setting.
We have spent time at many of the lodges on the lake, but we keep coming back to Changa as it ticks all the boxes. With it’s unique and peaceful setting, it is a place where we can get away from our busy lives and really take time to relax and get back to nature. We can sail, do bush walks, go on game drives, do some fishing and I can practise some photography.
The friendly staff go out of their way to make our stay comfortable and nothing is too much to ask. From tea and rusks delivered to our tent in the mornings to ice cold g & t’s at midday served to us by Edwell the barman on our private deck, to bream we caught on the sunset cruise served as bar snacks that same evening, we feel completely taken care of. Meals are always such a mouth watering treat and an essential part of the Changa experience.
I’m loosing count of how many times we’ve been back to this beautiful camp and if you were to ask me whether I’d like to go back again ……
the answer is YES, without a doubt! WE’LL BE BACK VERY SOON!
Extraordinary sunsets and game drives and Allan relaxing whilst doing a bit of sailing.
